The Reading Power program is designed to teach specific strategies to use during the reading process that enable students to engage in a more interactive, thoughtful reading experience and to improve comprehension. Central to the program is authentic children’s literature for modeling demonstrations, practice, and independent reading. In order to fully implement Reading Powers we would like to begin to build a library or suggested “gem books” and independent reading books that easily lend themselves to the different reading powers (comprehension strategies).
